While the feet are not common canvases for skin art, there are foot Tattoo Designs, and quite a lot of them. These permanent pedal paintings are not as common as arm, chest, and back tattoos, but they are still easy to get.

It might be because we often take our feet for granted. It may also be because our cultures view feet as dirty and unmentionable. Whatever the case may be, they are suitable for tattooing, especially if you want a small one that can be hidden when needed.

There are of course practical reasons for not getting inked on the foot. One such reason is that foot tattoos tend to be more painful than other tattoos, not just during the procedure but afterwards too. There is not much cushioning fat, so bruising tends to be worse. Additionally, ordinary tattoo needles cannot handle the soles of the feet.

What this means is some extra TLC is needed after foot tattoos, and this starts with footwear. Closed footwear (socks, shoes, etc.) are a no-no, as they can cause friction which leads to pain and sometimes damage to the tattoo. If you can go barefoot, then do so.
